"Love many, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe"

It's a good quote at first, but only if you plan to never truly love and be loved. If you are truly loved, that person who loves you would hop onto your canoe and be there to help you paddle through it all whether you like it or not. A canoe can be made to fit lots and lots of people. I mean - that's how the Indians did it, anyway, and they're the ones who invented the vessel. This quote is meant for one-sided relationships; relationships where one person can sit there, paddling his own canoe, while the other person hops into his canoe to be everything and anything he ever needs. That's what love is.

--but then again - who the hell truly understands love but God? He's the one who made the freakin' river you're paddling around on like tiny, insignificant, drowning ants.
